Senior Scholarships

Did you know that the PTSO awards up to six $500 scholarships to graduating seniors each spring?  The PTSO is a volunteer based organization that values volunteerism and works hard to raise funds to enrich the Lansing schools and community.  We feel it is important to recognize students who are committed to achieving a high level of academic performance and who also take the time to assist the PTSO through regular volunteerism.

How do I qualify?

  • You or your family must be current PTSO members and must have joined prior to October 31, 2016.

  • You must have volunteered for the PTSO a minimum of 4 times during your high school career.  The PTSO keeps records of all student volunteerism, though keeping your own records is recommended as well.

  • You must be attending a 2 or 4 year college or university following graduation.

  • You must have a minimum grade point average of 80.

How do I apply?

  • Stop into the HS guidance office and fill out a general scholarship application.

Who decides on the scholarship recipients?

  • The PTSO president and two additional board members review the applications and make selections in the spring.

When will I know if I received a scholarship?

  • Scholarships are announced and handed out at the HS graduation.

What can the scholarship money be used for?

  • The PTSO provides each scholarship recipient with a personal check that may be cashed and spent by the individual.  We suggest you use it for books or other course materials, school apparel or gear, athletic fees, or any other expenses you will incur at school.  Ultimately, however, you may spend it as you wish.
