Lansing Students Perform in Pittsburgh, PA

On Saturday, March 10, ten Lansing Middle School and one Lansing High School students performed with the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Region Honor Choirs in Pittsburgh, PA. Elizabeth Alo, Erin Dhameeth, Izzy Gustafson, Izzy Hafner, Anna Hibbard, Kirida Irving, Alina Loginov, Maya Montfort-Balfour, and Dominick Ronsvalle performed with the Elementary Honor Choir. Max Austin and Ariella Lindsley-Schutz performed with the Junior High Honor Choir. Students from Maryland to Maine auditioned for this honor via a recording last June.
The choir members rehearsed for many hours each day under the direction of some of the country’s finest conductors. The students also had the rare opportunity to meet some of the composers of the pieces they sang.
After months of preparing by themselves at home and four days together in Pittsburgh, thousands of friends, family members, and choral directors filled Pittsburgh’s Heinz Hall to hear these wonderful choirs perform. The event was one of the highest honors that any singer at this age could achieve. The students represented the Lansing CSD very well. Congratulations to these fine young people!
