Listening Tent Teaches Self-Care

Listening Tent Teaches Self-Care

Lansing High School counseling and the Ithaca Suicide Prevention and Crisis Service held a “listening tent” activity in Student Services.

The event focused on self-care and taught students techniques to manage stress and anxiety. Hands-on activities, such as making stress balls with balloons and rice, provided a fun way to take part in the offerings.

Student Services hosted the event as part of a broader effort to make the conversation around mental health and wellness more normalized and public. The Ithaca Suicide Prevention and Crisis Service has worked with Lansing faculty in the past, but this was the first activity this school year that engaged directly with students. There will be more activities held throughout the Lansing School District that aim to educate students about mental wellness.
