Athletes of the Month

Mackenzie Stark - Junior, Swim

Mackenzie equals the epitome of hard work, she is a total team player!  She is willing to do anything event wise for her team.  She will assist any team member any time they ask.  She was and IAC Champion in the 500 Free and IC All-Star and IM.  She swam the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle, 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay at Sectionals and placed in the top of her class.

Brad Lehr - Senior, Football
Brad served as a team captain this year and did a tremendous job as a leader on and off the field.  He carried the ball 77 times for a total of 378 yards and 9 touchdowns.  He also had one reception for 10 yards and a touchdown.  On the defensive side of the ball, he had 35 tackles and 2 interceptions.

Lindsey Powers - Freshman, Cheer
Lindsey has been chosen for athlete of the month, because of her dedication and willingness to always lend a hand if her team needs anything.  Lindsey is encouraging and supportive of all of her team mates at all times.  She is always ready to give 100% in practice.  She is an extremely hard working athlete and a positive role model in and out of practice.

Kinsley Jacobs - Freshman, Girls XC
Kinsley has finished as our second runner in every race in which she has competed this season and has earned top finisher recognitions at several invitationals.  She is recognized as an IAC Division II First-Team All-Star as we head into our end-of-season championships.  Kinsley is a second-year varsity runner despite being a freshman, and she has shown a great deal of growth in her tenacity, determination, and perseverance, especially in workouts, and she is a focused competitor during races.

Ryan Barton, Senior, Boys XC
Ryan has finished one of our top three scorers throughout this season and serves as our boy’s team captain.  He is a strong leader who takes his role as a captain of the program seriously, encouraging his teammates with his words and also setting the bar himself both in terms of energy and enthusiasm for the sport as well as dedication to getting the workout or race done and done well.  He is an IAC Division II Second Team All-Star as we head into the end-of-season championships.

Julian Tornusciolo - Senior, Boys Soccer
Julian had an impressive month of October on the field, finishing with 8 goals in 9 games. Although not in the starting lineup, Julian proved that he belonged on the field for quality minutes. Julian progressively grew as a player in understanding how to be more physical with and without the ball and getting the ball off of his foot more quickly. He became an integral part of our state championship run and there is no one more deserving of this award for the time and effort he has put into the sport of soccer.

Lulani Haslinger - Freshman, Girls Soccer
Lulani finished the season with 15 goals, 8 assists, and 38 points (team leader).
Her commitment towards training at a high level and her desire to improve each day makes her stand out on the field.  Lulani is less concerned about her individual statistics and more concerned with the overall success of the team.  If there was one word to describe Lulani it would be, selfless.

Amanda Baker - Junior, Volleyball
Amanda has stepped up and has been engaged and aggressive in games and in practice. She has stepped into positions that we have needed her in and always puts her best effort forward. She is focus, yet brings her own style to games and practices.  Great work Amanda!

Carlee Tibkee - Senior, Volleyball

Carlee is one of the most consistent athletes on the team, but on days she’s not as consistent she brings her team up by being a supportive and up lifting teammate. She is always the first one to cheer and give high fives. She has scored 115 points and have helped her teammates score 11 points. Helping her team to advance to 8-4 overall record this last month.

Corinna Petrich - Sophomore, Soccer
7 goals, 5 assists, 19 points total – team leader
Corinna exemplifies everything we want in a student-athlete here at Lansing High School. She is a student first, athlete second, and is successful in both of these roles.  On the soccer field, Corinna’s work rate is second to none and it is often contagious to her fellow teammates.  As we reach the halfway point of the fall season, I cannot think of a time where Corrina has deviated from good sportsmanship, team commitment, positive attitude, and commitment.

Grace Kadlecik - Junior, Swim
Grace has broken a 30 year old school record in the 100 free and also the 50 free school record this year.  She has qualified in the 200 free, 50 free, and 100 free for the state meet.   Grace has also broken 9 pool records in various events in league meets this season.

Sam Panzer - Senior, Soccer
Sam got off to a blazing start this season, scoring 11 goals in the month of September. As one of the returning starters from last years team, he worked incredibly hard in preseason to put himself in a position to be successful. He was open to his new role as a striker and certainly took advantage of his time on the field. Off the field, he has been a staple when it comes to bringing all the players closer together. His straightforward, yet relaxed, personality has allowed him to step up and be a leader of the group.

Ben Vincent - Junior, Football
Ben contributed at quarterback and defensive back to help the team to victories against TAE and Newfield.  Ben accounted for 250 yards on 18 carries resulting in 4 TDs. Passing, he was 9 - 17 for 195 yards and 2 TD.  Defensively, he registered 12 Total tackles forced a fumble and recovered another.

Emmy Jackson - Junior, Cross Country
Emmy has finished as our top runner in every race thus far this season, including winning our meet at Trumansburg, finishing as the Baldwinsville Invitational small school girls runner-up, and placing in the top twenty girls in the seeded varsity small school McQuaid Invitational.  Emmy is a kind and encouraging teammate and competitor, and no matter how hard a workout or race, she goes out of her way to congratulate those around her on their efforts.  Emmy takes on challenges quietly yet fiercely, and she inspires those around her with her tenacity and unwavering work ethic.
