School Closed Through Remainder of School Year
Dear Lansing Families:
We are officially ending week seven of schools being closed due to COVID-19.
As we were parading throughout Lansing today saying hello and waving to Lansing students, families, and community members, we heard Governor Cuomo announce that NYS schools were closed the remainder of the school year. Hearing that announcement as we saw smiling faces and signs of Bobcat joy brought about many emotions of love and gratitude as well as a deep sense of sadness. We miss our engagement, our connections, our teaching, our learning, our shared experiences, and our ability to freely be together. We miss you! Today reminded us how lucky we are and how much we have to be grateful for while managing the grief we commonly share. Thank you for creating, participating in and supporting a shared experience together that fit our current climate. Photos to come!
There is much to come on next steps, budget planning and future education re-entry plans. In the meantime, enjoy your weekend!
With sincere gratitude,
All students in grades K-12 should have been issued a student device if requested. We are also seeking information regarding available wifi services and supports. We will be contacting families that have identified as requiring assistance. If you require assistance, please contact us by emailing your building principal.
We continue to serve and deliver breakfast and lunch to approximately 200 students daily. Our food service department has been exceptional and we are so grateful for our transportation department.
Weekly meal packages are sent home each Monday.
If you would like to sign up for weekly food deliveries, please email Sandi Swearingen at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Child Development Council staff are working remotely and offering additional services to assure the well-being of children, families, and child care providers in our community. Child care availability is being monitored and referrals will be provided to essential personnel.
If you need child care, call CDC at (607) 273-0259 or email info@
We understand there are many emails, Google Classrooms, Google Meetings, and other platforms that you and your student are expected to connect to on a daily basis. We are working diligently to streamline our resources.

Office hours for the week of 5/4/2020 – 5/8/2020
Most offices are working virtually unless otherwise noted by essential need. If you require assistance, please email or call the school and leave a message on the appropriate phone. It is an expectation that we are checking our voicemail and email consistently during this time period.
Extension of Education
Some of you have expressed interest in going above and beyond what your child’s classroom teacher is sharing with you. Here is a link to NYSED website with grade level information, videos, and additional resources: https://www.engageny.org/
