Lansing CSD Announces Board of Education Transition and Upcoming Special Meeting
At the March 23, 2026 Board of Education meeting, three members of the Lansing Central School District Board of Education, Kate Cole, Ami Stallone, and John Stevens, formally announced their resignations. We thank them for their service to the Lansing Central School District and to public education, and for their contributions to our school community.
To ensure continuity in governance and ongoing support for students, staff, and families, the Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Friday, March 27 at 4:00 PM in the High School LGI. During this meeting, the Board will appoint experienced former board members to fill the vacant seats.
This approach reflects the district’s commitment to stability and thoughtful leadership. The appointed members bring a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of Lansing CSD, including the New York State public school budget process. Their knowledge will support a seamless transition during this important time in the district’s budget development and planning.
Superintendent Statement:
“While it’s unfortunate that recent events brought moments of discord and disruption to District processes and procedures, I am uplifted by the continued support and shared focus on what matters most, our students, our schools, and our Lansing community. We remain grounded in our core belief of partnership and connection, knowing that strong relationships are essential to student success. This is a Bobcat strong community, and together we will move forward with purpose, care, and commitment.”
Board of Education President and Vice President Statement:
“We thank Kate Cole, Ami Stallone, and John Stevens for their service to the Lansing Central School District and to public education. As a Board, we remain focused on our students and our responsibility to move this work forward. We are committed to developing a school budget that reflects our district’s mission and values, while recognizing the challenges facing our community and proceeding with strong fiscal responsibility and due diligence.”
Upcoming Board of Education Elections
Looking ahead, the Lansing Central School District will have four open Board of Education seats on the ballot this year:
Three seats will be for terms beginning July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2029.
One seat will begin immediately following the May budget vote and election and will run through June 30, 2027. This seat will be filled by the candidate receiving the fourth-highest number of votes.
Community members interested in serving are encouraged to consider this meaningful opportunity to contribute to the district’s future. Board service reflects Lansing’s core belief in leadership with character and courage, supporting thoughtful decision-making and stewardship on behalf of all students.
