Today, our High School seniors in Economics learned from SUNY Cortland Psychology students and program coordinator Dr. Bridget Hier about careers in school psychology and counseling, the college experience, and the educational pathways to these professions through SUNY Cortland’s Psychology in Schools program.
Thank you to Dr. Hier and the SUNY Cortland Psychology Department for taking the time to connect with and inspire our students! 💙💛

Our Community & Career Day is coming together in a BIG way — and our students are telling us exactly what they want:
✔️ Real career stories
✔️ Hands-on experiences
✔️ Advice on how to get started
✔️ AND… real opportunities like jobs, internships, and job shadows
We already have an incredible group of professionals in:
🏥 Healthcare
🔧 Trades & Construction
💼 Business & Leadership
But we are still looking to grow in a few key areas 👇
🎬 Media, Film, Animation, & Creative Arts
👶 Education, Social Work & Careers with Kids
⚙️ Engineering (Mechanical, Robotics, Design)
🚓 Public Safety (Fire, Forensics, Federal/Investigative Roles)
🌍 Global Careers (Policy, International Work, Diplomacy)
💼 LOCAL EMPLOYERS offering jobs, internships, or job shadow opportunities
You don’t need a formal presentation.
You just need your story, your experience, and a willingness to talk with students.
This day is about showing students:
👉 there are many paths
👉 success doesn’t look one way
👉 and opportunities exist right here in our community
If you (or someone you know) can help — we’d love to have you join us.
Let’s build something meaningful for our students. 💙

Good things happen when breakfast comes to the classroom. More students eat, cafeteria lines shrink, and the school day gets off to a better start. Breakfast in the Classroom is an easy and effective way to expand access to breakfast and fuel children's bodies and brains for learning. #NationalSchoolBreakfastWeek #BreakfastAftertheBell

Good luck to Owen, Clark, and Evan as they compete this weekend! They’re on their way to the 61st Annual Boys Wrestling Individual State Championships in Albany to make Lansing proud! Go Bobcats! 🐾💛💙

🎨 Quinlan “Q” Meloney was awarded the Matthias H. Arnot Society Prize. Only one student in the region receives this award and this year, Q was selected!
📸 Daquan “Diggy” Smith was awarded the American Visions nomination for his photograph, “At my lowest”. Only five artworks are nominated for that award at the regional level. One of those five artworks will be selected at the National level for the official American Visions Medal.
Way to go, Bobcats! 💙💛

❄️ Here’s What We’ve Been Up To! ❄️
We wanted to share a look at what’s been happening in our kitchens at Lansing Central School this year!
From October- February, our Food Service team have been hosting student taste tests to introduce new scratch-made recipes, fresh produce, and creative menu items.
Students helped guide our menus with simple thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback — and the results have been exciting!
So far, students have taste tested:
🥩 Beef & Peppers
🎃 Roasted Butternut Squash
🥕 Rainbow Carrots
🌱 Watermelon Radish
🍓 Frozen Yogurt Bark
🍝 Kale Pesto Pasta
Many of these items were very well received, and some are already making their way onto our menus!
We’re proud to keep expanding student palates, featuring fresh ingredients, and building excitement around school meals. More to come this spring!

🌱 Student Taste Test Success! 🍝
Swipe through to see some smiles from our latest student taste test!
On February 5th and 6th, our elementary and middle school students sampled a fresh pesto pasta made right in our high school kitchen. This homemade pesto featured baby kale, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, parmesan cheese, and garlic — a nutritious twist on a classic favorite.
👩🍳 Our kitchen team prepared everything from scratch
Over 300 students participated
👍 The reviews were overwhelmingly positive, with lots of smiles and thumbs-up! Who knew green would go over so well?!
We love giving students the chance to try new, healthy foods and share their opinions. Thank you to everyone who helped make this taste test a success!

Thank you Deputy Policay for sharing your experiences and taking the time to connect with our students about future career possibilities! 🙌
